Myocardial blood flow following experimental coronary occlusion. Effects of diltiazem.

چکیده
To determine the effects of diltiazem, a new calcium antagonist, on myocardial ischemia, two experiments were performed. The results showed 1) the intravenous holus injection of large doses of diltiazem reduced ST segment elevation in open-chest dogs with acute coronary occlusion. The regional myocardial blood flow in the control area, as well as moderately and mildly ischemic areas increased significantly after diltiazem.

Selective improvement in subendocardial perfusion distal to a flow-limiting coronary artery stenosis: effects of the new calcium channel blocking agent, FR 34235, nifedipine and diltiazem.
The purpose of the present study was to compare the effects of a new calcium channel blocker, FR 34235, on the distribution of blood flow between subendocardium and subepicardium (endo/epi) distal to a proximal flow-limiting coronary artery stenosis, with those of nifedipine and diltiazem in anesthetized dogs. Myocardial blood flow distribution was determined by using 15-mu radioactive microsph...
متن کاملEffects of a calcium-entry blocker (diltiazem) on regional myocardial flow and function during exercise in conscious dogs.
We examined the effects of diltiazem, a calcium-entry blocker, on exercise-induced myocardial ischemia in nine conscious dogs with chronic coronary stenoses. An ameroid constrictor, Doppler flow probe, and hydraulic occluder were placed around the left circumflex coronary artery, and left ventricular pressure was measured (Konigsberg micromanometer). Pairs of ultrasonic crystals were implanted ...
متن کاملIntravenous diltiazem in acute myocardial infarction. Diltiazem as adjunctive therapy to activase (DATA) trial.
OBJECTIVES This study was defined as a pilot investigation of the usefulness and safety of intravenous diltiazem as adjunctive therapy to tissue plasminogen activator in acute myocardial infarction, followed by oral therapy for 4 weeks. BACKGROUND Experimental studies have documented that calcium antagonists protect the myocardial cell against the damage caused by coronary artery occlusion an...
متن کاملHemodynamics and coronary flow following diltiazem administration in anesthetized dogs and in humans.
In this study, the systemic and coronary hemodynamic changes associated with the administration of diltiazem, a recent calcium antagonist, were evaluated in three different situations as follows: following a 200 microgram/kg intravenous bolus of the drug in 12 open-chest anesthetized dogs; following two successive intravenous infusions of diltiazem (15 microgram/kg/min and 30 microgram/kg/min),...
متن کاملRepeated dipyridamole administration enhances collateral-dependent flow and regional function during exercise. A role for adenosine.
Two main hypotheses concerning the mechanisms responsible for coronary collateral growth suggest the involvement of chemical or mechanical factors. Since we recently demonstrated that the development of the coronary collateral circulation is not closely related to the extent or duration of myocardial ischemia, we hypothesized that chronic repeated vasodilation and increased myocardial blood flo...
